The Top 26 Global Music Festivals of 2020

At Audience Republic we have the pleasure of partnering with music festivals around the globe to amplify ticket sales and improve buyer insights. We have worked with music festivals of all sizes and across music genres.

With the new year (and decade!) nearly upon us, we put our heads together to come up with the top 26 music festivals we are most excited for next year.

Here are the top 26 global music festivals of 2020:

UNITED KINGDOM

1. PARKLIFE
What:
A two-day immersive music festival in Heaton Park by some of the hottest live acts & djs from across the world and genre. They have expanded in recent years to include artists from EDM and hip hop to pop and rock.

Who: The 2020 lineup hasn’t been released yet but 2019’s headliners included the likes of George Ezra, Solange, Migos, Khalid, Major Lazor, Disclosure, and Mark Ronson.

2. JUNCTION 2
What:
Junction 2 Festival is a London-based techno festival, with some of the genre's best names inside west London's Boston Manor Park. Held underneath a motorway, it's easy to see where the festival's name originates, but the industrial-cum-park setting is the perfect accompaniment to Junction 2's gritty, but alternative, sound.

Who: The 2020 headliners include Jon Hopkins, Adam Beyer, Four Tet, Amelie Lens, Honey Dijon, Nina Kravitz and Marcel Dettmann.

3. LOVEBOX
What:
Lovebox is a celebration of the best of British and international music, dance, and the arts. Founded by DJs Groove Armada, Lovebox pushes out a world-class lineup of electronic and dance music or as they call it - flamboyant mayhem.

Who: The 2020 lineup headliners include Tyler the Creator, Disclosure, Khalid Anderson .Paak, FKA Twigs, Charli XCX, Hot Chip, Jorja Smith and Peggy Gou.

4. WE OUT HERE
What:
We Out Here Festival is a Worldwide Family Gathering in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. A festival that joins the musical dots between soul, hip hop, house, afro, electronica, jazz and beyond, showcasing both outstanding live music and some of the best record collections in the world.

Who: The live lineup includes Gary Bartz featuring Dwight Trible & Saul Williams, Matthew Herbert’s Big Band Tirzah, The Comet is Coming, Mala & The Outlook Orchestra, Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids, Zara McFarlane, and Sons of Kemet Lee Fields 7 The Expressions. The DJ Sets include Theo Parrish, Francois K, Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Objekt Call Super, Mike Dunn, HAAi, and Nu Guiena.

5. MADE FESTIVAL
What:
Birmingham’s biggest and best festival continues to bring huge and diverse line ups year on year to the city. The one day event showcases the best the second city has to offer in music, arts and the creative industries. Created and still independently owned by Weird Science Ltd, it is promoted by a hugely passionate team of music and event lover.

Who: The 2019 headliners include Andy C, Annie Mac, Sub Focus B2B Dimension, Solardo, Sonny Fodera, Mall Grab, and Lethal Bizzle.

When & Where: 1 August 2020 at Perry Park in Birmingham

6. BOOMTOWN
What:
Boomtown is a five-day festival set in the Matterley bowl in Hampshire, UK. Now heading into its 12th chapter, the 66,000 capacity event fuses a diverse line-up of underground and global music with boundary-pushing immersive art, theatre and performance coming together as a living, breathing, fictitious city.

Boomtown is on of the UK’s largest truly independent festivals. It is made up of 1214 fully immersive unique areas and follows a storyline that evolves each year to create a world within a world. Boomtown is a theatrically-led experience like no other with hundreds of actors bringing the film-like street sets to life.

Who: The lineup includes performers across music, poetry, theatre and carnival. Bands include Caravan Palace, Flogging Molly, Hilight Tribe, and Tank and the Bangas.

7. BOARDMASTERS
What:
Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters began in 1981. Expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day. The five-day event is situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall – UK surfing mecca, Fistral Beach, where world class International Surf Competitions take place, and the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay.

Who: The 2019 headliners include Wu-Tang Clan, The Wombats, DJ EZ, Claude Vonstroke, Florence + The Machine, Dizzee Rascal, Jax Jones, Foals, Jorja Smith, Plan B, and Wilkinson B2B Sub Focus.

8. RISE FESTIVAL
What: Rise Festival is an annual electronic music and snow-sports festival held in the scenic French ski resort of Les Deux Alpes starting in 2013. The fast-growing festival attracts international crowds to its breathtaking location atop Europe's biggest skiable glacier.

Who: Previous lineups include Annie Mac, Bicep, Camelphat, Chase & Status, Clean Bandit, Craig David, David Rodigan, Denis Sulta, DJ EZ, High Contrast, Micheal Bibi, Seth Troxler, Sigma, Solardo, Wilkinson

9. HIDEOUT
What:
Hideout Festival turns 10-years-old in 2020 with it’s returns to Croatia's Zrće beach. The five-day festival brings together beach vibes, boat parties, pool parties, exclusive headline

shows in five open air venues, and the most respected electronic artists of 2020.

Who: The 2020 lineup includes Andy C, Artwork, Bou, Camelphat, Clipz, Danny Howard, DJ Q, Fisher, Hannah Wants, Harriet Jaxxon, Hot Since 82, KC Lights, MK, Redlight, Sam Divine, Skream, and Flava D.

10. SZIGET
What:
The first Sziget Festival was in 1993 as a small gathering and has since evolved into one of Europe’s largest music festivals. Each year the organizers strive to bring Szitizens some of the biggest global names, and host over 1,000 shows across 60 stages, for 7 days straight.

Who: The 2019 headliners include Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Post Malone, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975, The National Macklemore and Martin Garrix.

11. HURRICANE
What:
The Hurricane Festival is a three-day music festival that has taken place at the Eichenring, a speedway race track, in Scheeßel Germany since 1997. With more than 70,000 attendees it is one of the largest music festivals in Germany.

Who: The 2020 headliners include Kings of Leon, Rise Against, Deichkind, Speed, Martin Garrix, The Killers, Twenty One Pilots, Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975, The Hives, and Of Monsters and Men.

12. NORTHSIDE
What:
NorthSide aims to be Denmark’s best and most sustainable music festival and as a city festival, we wish to influence how our guests act in a social and cultural setting.

Who: The 2020 headliners include Robyn, Green Day, Mew, Lukas Graham, Weezer, Franc moody and Spleen United.

When & Where: 4 -6 June 2020 in Arhus, Denmark

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

13. BLUESFEST
What: Since 1990, Bluesfest has showcased music from around the world every Easter long weekend, just north of Byron Bay in New South Wales. Bluesfest features 200 performances across multiple stages over five x 12 hour days. Camping for 6,000 guests. Five licensed bars. 100+ food and market stalls. Undercover food courts. Beer gardens. Quality family entertainment.

Who: Previous headliners include Bob Dylan, Hozier, Paul Simon, Gary Clark Jr., Angus & Julia Stone, Robert Plant, Alabama Shakes, John Mayer, Jurassic 5, James Brown, Zac Brown Band, Joss Stone, David Gray, Trombone Shorty, Angelique Kidjo, John Legend, and BB King. 14. SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS
What:
Splendour in the Grass is one of Australia's premier music festivals, each year bringing the biggest artists from the world's of rock, indie and more. In addition to the amazing music lineup, there are dance and circus workshops, celebrations of Australia's Aboriginal heritage, artistic installations and a range of food and craft markets.

Who: The 2019 headliners included Chance the Rapper, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, Sza, Foals, James Blake, Santigold, The Lumineers, The Streets, Broods, and Hayden James.

15. BEYOND THE VALLEY
What:
Since it’s inception in 2014, the boutique music festival Beyond The Valley has grown into an annual party-goers haven. Running annually over the New Year’s Eve period, BTV's carefully crafted selection of local and international artists perform across three distinctly designed, purpose-built stages.

Who: Past headliners include Jamie XX, Chance The Rapper, Schoolboy Q, Flight Facilities, Tash Sultana, Peggy Gou. This year’s big headliners are Rufus Du Sol and Tyler, The Creator.

When & Where: 28 December 2019 - 1 January 2020 at Lardner Park in Lardner, Victoria

16. PITCH MUSIC & ARTS
What:
Four aural days of music and contemporary art, situated in the forever-still Grampian plains. The festival brings together a community of like-minded people for an indelible weekend.

Who: This year’s electronic headliners include Nina Kraviz, Maceo Plex and Richie Hawtin. Other international and local acts include Kllo, Hiatus Kaiyote, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Fleetmac Wood, and Collarbones.

17. LANEWAY FESTIVAL
What:
The annual Laneway Festival is a multi-city music festival across cities in Australia and New Zealand. The festival brings summer’s best line-up of local and international acts to a city this January/February with the blockbuster line-up.

Who: The 2020 lineup includes The 1975, Charli XCX, Ruel, Earl Sweatshirt, Ocean Alley, DMA’s, Tones and I, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Hockey Dad, Bbno$, The Chats, Benee, Oliver Tree, and Omar Apollo.

When & Where: 27 January at Albert Park, Auckland, New Zealand; 1 February at Brisbane Showgrounds in Brisbane; 2nd February at the Domain in Sydney; 7 February at Harts Mill in Port Adelaide; 8 February at Footscray Park in Melbourne; and 9 February at Esplanade Reserve & West End in Fremantle.

18. LET THEM EAT CAKE
What:
Tinged with memories of New Years past, peer through the trees of their familiar playground and witness the kaleidoscopic riches that await. In it’s eighth year, the organizers changing pace for this New Year’s Day festival. Around every corner you’ll find a treasure, something we’ve put together purely for you.

Who: The 2020 lineup includes Cinthie, Denis Sulta, HAAi, Harvey Sutherland, Honey Dijon, Jon Hopkinds, Madam X, Sheigeto, Sosupersam, TOKiMonsta, Tom Trago, and Wax’o Paradiso.

19. FOMO FESTIVAL
What:
FOMO Festival is a one day, one stage, all-inclusive entertainment experience, produced by music lovers for music lovers. The multi-city festival travels across Australia and New Zealand starting January 5th.

Who: The 2020 lineup includes Brockhampton, Kaytrandada, Lizzo, Madeon, Jax Jones, Octavian, Rico Nasty, Meduza, Chillinit, Whipped Cream, and Dombresky.

20. SNOWGLOBE
What:
SnowGlobe is equal parts music festival, winter expedition, and New Year's Eve celebration - a snow-covered love letter handwritten with the power of music and the spirit of adventure. SnowGlobe Festival is a one-of-a-kind experience that offers the ultimate fusion: music and mountains.

Who: The lineup headliners include Skrillex, Fisher, Gigantic Nightmre, GRiZ, Louis the Child, Tchami x Malaa, Zhu and Vince Staples.

21. LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE
What:
Lightning in a Bottle is an annual electronic dance and experimental music festival in the Central Valley region of California first held in 2006. It is presented by The Do LaB, which seeks to promote sustainability, social cohesion, and creative expression.

Who: The 2020 lineup is coming soon. Previous headliners include Disclosure, Big Gigantic, Flying Lotus, Santigold, Gramatik, Toro Y Moi, Khruangbin, Rising Appalachia, Masego, Elohim, and Cautious Clay.

22. COACHELLA
What:
A three-day event across two weekends, the huge festival features musical artists across many genres including rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music.

Who: The 2020 headliners include Frank Ocean, Travis Scott and Rage Against the Machine. Previous headliners include Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Janelle Monae, The 1975, The Weekend, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar.

23. THE GOVERNORS BALL MUSIC FESTIVAL
What:
The three-day festival features music of all genres, food from all over the globe, and a wide range of art. The Gov Ball experience is unlike any other festival out there. Built by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers, the festival is always evolving, always entertaining, and always striving to exceed your expectations.

What:
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is an annual four-day music festival. From it’s beginning, the festival has been held at Great Stage Park on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee. This immersive festival has multiple stages featuring live music across tons of genres including indie rock, classic rock, world music, hip hop, jazz, Americana, bluegrass, country music, folk, gospel, reggae, pop, electronica, and other alternative music.

25. SOMETHING IN THE WATER
What:
Produced by Pharrell Williams, the festival is back in 2020 for its second year. In addition to the incredible group of musical artists that will be on the beach April 24th-26th, Pharrell will expand upon the week by once again bringing the best of the world back to Virginia Beach, including the brightest minds from the culinary world, technology, environmental sustainability, health & wellness, media, starting Monday, April 20th.

Who: The 2020 music headliners include A$AP Rocky, Beck, Foo Fighters, Major Lazer, and The Head and the Heart. You can see the full lineup here.

26. BOTTLEROCK NAPA VALLEY
What:
BottleRock is a multi-genre, three-day music festival taking place in California's Napa Valley. The festival showcases the world’s top musicians on five music stages, plus its famed BottleRock Culinary Stage which showcases one-of-a-kind culinary and celebrity mashups. In addition to music, fans get experience the region’s world famous wine and food.

Who: The 2020 lineup will be announced on January 6th Last year’s headliners included Imagine Dragons, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons, Logic, Pharrell Williams, Santana, OneRepublic, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Tash and Sultana.
